Bland County VINELink Coverage
Virginia participates in VINE through VINELink, but coverage follows the agency that supplies the custody data. For a Bland County arrest, the usual local custodian is New River Valley Regional Jail. NRVRJ is a regional jail in Dublin that serves Bland County even though it is outside the county. A search should therefore be matched to both the person and the supplying agency. VINELink is a status and notification service. It is not the legal custodian of the booking or release record.
A local VINE result may display custody status, location, an identifier, and the notification events offered for that record. A released status means the source agency reported a custody event. It does not say why the person left, whether a court case remains open, or whether another agency received the person. Search Bland County VINELink Records
Begin with the custody class. A Bland County local booking usually points to NRVRJ and VINE. A state-prison sentence points to VADOC and NAAVI for notices. Federal Bureau of Prisons custody is outside VINELink's Bland County route and must be checked through the federal locator. Once the local route is confirmed, search narrowly enough to find the person but not so narrowly that a spelling or data difference hides the record.
- Open Virginia in VINELink and choose the custody or offender search offered on the live screen.
- Enter the first and last name, or use a booking or offender identifier when the form offers that field.
- Compare the supplying agency, name details, and any identifier. Do not select a result on name alone when several people match.
- Open the matching record and read the current status, custody location, and listed event or date.
- If the result reports release, call the supplying agency to learn whether it was community release or a transfer.

Bland VINELink Release Fields
The exact VINELink fields can vary with the participating agency. Read the labels on the live record rather than assuming every field will appear. The result reports what the supplying system sent, and a feed can change after a later update. These common fields help separate identity, present status, and a reported custody event.

A date in a VINE notice is not a certified release document. For an NRVRJ booking, the jail's own result list can show name, booking number, permanent ID, birth date, and Release Date. For a VADOC case, a signed and dated Order of Release or official release response carries more weight. Court orders explain bond, dismissal, sentence, or later legal action, but may not record the time someone passed through the jail door.
Note: Match the supplying agency before interpreting a date because jail release, prison release, and transfer events have different legal meanings.
Register Bland County Release Alerts
Registration attaches to one selected record. Choose the record only after comparing the agency and identity details. VINELink may offer phone, text, or email depending on the live record and current interface. Button names can change. Follow the displayed prompts rather than relying on an old screen description.
- Open the matching person record and select its notification option.
- Choose the custody-change or release events offered for that record.
- Select an available delivery method and enter the phone number or email address.
- Create the four-digit phone PIN if requested, or complete the email or text validation shown.
- Review the registration, submit it, and save the confirmation for later reference.
The PIN confirms receipt of automated calls and can help manage the registration. It is not the incarcerated person's PIN or booking number. If the registration fails, reopen the person record and confirm that notification remains available. A future no-result does not prove the old registration is active, so retained confirmation is useful.
Two Bland Release Alert Systems
Virginia's notification structure creates a key Bland County handoff. VINE serves participating local and regional jail records. VADOC uses Notification and Assistance for Victim Inclusion, known as NAAVI, for its state-custody population. The systems are expressly not connected. If a person leaves NRVRJ for Bland Correctional Center or another VADOC institution, the local registration does not follow automatically.
Keep the VINE registration while the person remains in local custody. After a verified transfer into VADOC, create a separate registration through the Virginia NAAVI portal. VADOC says NAAVI can send email, text, phone, or mail notices in English or Spanish. Covered events may include transfer, anticipated release, a changed release date, and release. NAAVI does not send probation or parole notifications.

Bland State Release NAAVI Check
NAAVI applies after the legal custodian becomes VADOC. That includes state prisoners at Bland Correctional Center and elsewhere in Virginia's prison system within the scope described by VADOC. The state service can provide an anticipated-release notice and later date changes, but those messages remain notices. VADOC release papers confirm the actual prison exit and any conditions.

A person can leave prison and remain under VADOC community supervision. That is release from the institution, not final discharge from the sentence. The statewide Inmate and Supervisee Locator may continue to show the supervising district. By contrast, a transfer between prisons is still custody and should not be described as release.
Note: NAAVI covers the state-custody notification layer, while an active parole or probation status must be checked through VADOC and the supervising office.
Bland Release Registry Limits
The Virginia State Police Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry is separate from both VINELink and NAAVI. It covers only people who have a statutory registration duty. It is not a list of everyone released from NRVRJ, Bland Correctional Center, or another Virginia facility. A person missing from the registry may still have a jail, prison, court, or supervision record, while a person listed there is not necessarily in custody.
When the narrow registry question is relevant, use the official Virginia registry. Virginia Code §9.1-913 states that the public system is updated each business day with new registration, reregistration, and verification data. A current entry can corroborate required registration status and identity, but it does not establish a jail gate date. The registry should never replace the NRVRJ Release Date, a VADOC release document, or the supplying agency's confirmation.
Notification services answer a different need. VINE reports offered local custody events, and NAAVI supplies state-custody notices. The registry reflects a separate legal duty after release for a limited class of people. Keeping those systems apart avoids false conclusions from either a match or a no-result.
Confirm Bland VINELink Release Notices
Notification data can lag. A reported release can also hide an important custody handoff. NRVRJ may record the end of its jail stay when VADOC, the U.S. Marshals Service, BOP, or ICE receives the person. VINELink does not replace those agencies' systems. A federal prisoner belongs in the BOP locator, while an immigration locator is a current-location tool rather than a full release archive.
Use a short confirmation chain. First, identify the agency named in the alert. Next, call that custodian and ask for the release type and destination. Then compare the jail release date or VADOC release papers. Check the Bland court case when bond, dismissal, or sentence action may explain the event. If the public row lacks the reason or destination, request the existing release record from the custodian.
