No Official Bland County 24-Hour Feed
New River Valley Regional Jail is the booking and release custodian for most Bland County arrests. The jail does not publish a separately labeled, chronological list of everyone released during the last 24 hours. Its public navigation has no same-day filter, daily download, time-window selector, or promise that the results form a complete census. The Bland County Sheriff refers jail inquiries to the regional facility, which is located in Dublin and serves Bland as a member locality. A search for a stand-alone Bland County jail roster can therefore miss the office that actually holds the local booking and release entry.
The available official tool is the NRVRJ released-inclusive lookup. It can return a released row for a known person when the user checks “Include released inmates.” The search does not begin with a date range, so it cannot be browsed as an official list of all exits in one day. Compare the displayed Release Date with the day being checked, then ask the jail what that exit meant when destination or release authority matters. A person may have gone into the community, moved to VADOC, transferred to another jail, or entered federal or immigration custody.
Check Bland County 24-Hour Releases
Begin with a narrow named-person check. This method can confirm one recorded NRVRJ exit within the last day, but it cannot prove that the lookup contains every Bland County release from that period. The form supports a known-person search in name and identifier modes. It does not offer a complete “released today” button.

Bland County Release Roster Quirk
NRVRJ places “Include released inmates” in both of its search modes. That is the key Bland County release-record quirk. Name mode uses first name, last name, and date of birth. Identifier mode accepts the user-facing options Booking Number, Permanent Number, State ID, County ID, FBI Number, and ICE Number. An ICE Number is just an identifier choice in this form. It does not prove an immigration hold or transfer.
Several limits follow. No public NRVRJ source states how often the lookup updates. None states how long a released row remains visible. Multiple stays can also create more than one row for one person. Compare the booking number and case timing instead of merging entries. A current-roster disappearance has several possible meanings, including release, transfer, a search mismatch, or a data correction. Bland County Same-Day Release Timing
NRVRJ publishes no standard release hour, exit door, family waiting area, or weekend and holiday protocol. The safe plan is to call the official NRVRJ contact line before travel. Ask whether the release has been fully processed, where an approved pickup should wait, and whether another agency will receive the person. The jail’s public number is 540-643-2000. Staff can confirm operational details that a date-only result cannot show.
Bland Correctional Center follows a different system because it is a VADOC state prison, not the regional jail for Bland arrests. VADOC states that a qualifying prisoner is released by 11:59 p.m. on the release date, weather permitting. Staff read the release documents, obtain signatures, and address property and other release steps. That state rule must not be assigned to NRVRJ. A date at the prison and a date on the regional jail lookup come from different custodians and different records.
Getting Home After Bland County Release
Transportation requires direct planning. NRVRJ is on Route 100, also called Newbern Road, near Interstate 81 Exit 98 in Dublin. No official source promises public transit at the jail gate or transport into Bland County. A family member or friend should verify the time and approved pickup point before leaving. The jail may still be processing papers, returning permitted property, or handling a transfer even after a court event suggests release.
VADOC uses another process for people leaving Bland Correctional Center or another state institution. Its facility release policy says staff determine whether approved family or friend pickup or public transport will be used, and a bus may be arranged. The regional District 16 resource directory lists local support and transport contacts, but it does not promise service at either gate. Match the travel plan to the actual custodian.
Note: Confirm the facility, pickup point, and completed release before travel because Bland arrests are normally housed outside the county.
Bland County Bond Release Is Pretrial
A same-day exit often follows a bond decision, but bond does not end the case. NRVRJ’s bonding and bail guidance describes personal recognizance, unsecured bond, secured bond, and ineligible outcomes. Personal recognizance permits release based on a promise to appear. An unsecured bond does not require cash or property at the outset, while a secured bond requires the stated security. An ineligible outcome means release is not available through that bail decision.
Once a person has been committed to NRVRJ, the jail explains that only a judge can lower bond or arrange recognizance in the stated circumstances. Jail staff cannot recommend a professional bondsman. A populated Release Date after bond shows that the listed jail stay ended, not that the charge was dismissed or that the person completed a sentence. Bland County Release Status Paths
The word “released” needs context. Someone who walks out under recognizance, posts bond, receives time served, or completes a local term has left that booking for the community, subject to any remaining court duties. A move from NRVRJ to VADOC, another jail, the U.S. Marshals Service, or ICE ends the regional-jail stay but does not end custody. A VADOC supervision result can show that prison custody ended while probation or parole still continues.
